eAL has an automotive network that spans across North America and we have talked with many Technicians and shop owners over the years on their needs when it comes to diagnostic equipment. What should I purchase? OEM scanners vs Aftermarket OE-level scanners, and this is based on 2 categories of diagnostic needs when deciding to purchase.
Category 1: You work only on 1-3 manufactured brands of vehicles/equipment.
If you work on a couple of manufacturers in your environment i.e. GM, Ford vehicles. Don't purchase an Aftermarket OE level scan tool, purchase the OEM scan tool as affordability and factory access is worth the investment.
Category 2: You work on a diverse fleet of vehicles/equipment and need multi-coverage. On this level you will need an Aftermarket OE-level scan tool to give you the coverage needed at a more affordable cost with the best access as purchasing OE scan tools at this level can cost hundreds and thousands of dollars not including annual subscription costs. Let's be clear on the Aftermarket OE-level scanners, They do not give the same access as OEM but are very close depending on the brand of aftermarket scanner you are purchasing TEXA access is around 95% based on all software Environments.
The TEXA scan tool communicates approx: 30 seconds when connecting to modules using our AXONE Voice. see the specs below and compare them to other scan tool brands.
